Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian Rolls such as King’s Hawaiian or a store brand
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter melted
  • 4 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Parsley finely chopped (optional)
  • Coarse Salt such as Maldon Sea Salt (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, finely chopped garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.
6 Tablespoons Butter, 4 cloves Garlic, 2 Tablespoons Parsley
  3. Arrange the 12 Hawaiian rolls on a rimmed baking sheet. Using a serrated knife, cut a deep "X" into the top of each individual roll, being careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom.

  4. Slowly pour the garlic butter mixture over the rolls. Aim to get plenty of the butter and garlic bits inside the "X" cuts, allowing the excess to drip down the sides of the rolls.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake uncovered for 7 to 10 minutes, or until the rolls are warmed through and the edges are golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with coarse salt if desired. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Use a sharp serrated knife to make the cuts to prevent the soft bread from squishing while you slice. Don't skip the rimmed baking sheet, as it catches any butter that drips off the rolls.
