Ingredients
  

For the Ground Beef Mixture:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
For Assembly:
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional toppings: mushrooms, banana peppers

Method
 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper. Cook until softened, usually about 5-7 minutes.

  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.

  3. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

  4. Cut the hoagie rolls lengthwise, leaving one side hinged. Spoon an equal amount of the ground beef mixture into each roll.

  5. Top each with a slice of provolone cheese.

  6. Place the cheesesteaks on a baking sheet and place under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
