- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Make sure there is not a single lump.1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt
- In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract. Don't over do the beating.2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- If the dough seems too dry, add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches a workable consistency. It should be slightly sticky.2-3 tablespoons milk
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much while baking. The colder, the better!
- Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough at a time, roll into balls, and generously dredge in icing sugar making sure it is covered completely.1/2 cup icing sugar
- Place the covered dough balls on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes and remove immediately!
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Display this delicious snack and watch people smile.
