Instructions
- Prepare the glass: If desired, rim a glass with flaky salt. To do this, lightly press a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow dish of salt.
- Prepare the strawberry mixture: In a blender, combine the fresh strawberries, lime juice, honey (or agave syrup), and orange juice. Blend until smooth. Alternatively, if using very ripe strawberries, you can muddle them in a sturdy glass until evenly mashed.
- Combine and chill: If you blended the strawberries, pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker. If you muddled them, add the muddled strawberries to the shaker. Add ice to the cocktail shaker.
- Shake well: Secure the lid on the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.
- Assemble the mocktail: Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the strawberry mixture from the shaker into the glass.
- Top off: Top the glass with club soda, sparkling water, or ginger beer to your desired level. Stir gently.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish with a lime wedge, lime twist, or fresh strawberry slices, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Adjust the sweetness (honey) of this recipe according to how ripe your strawberries are, whether or not they are in season, and if you use ginger beer vs. an unsweetened drink, like club soda or sparkling water. You can strain the strawberries if you prefer a smoother texture, but leaving them in adds sweetness and flavor. Garnish with a lime wedge, lime twist, strawberry slices, or anything else you want!
