Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 pound lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Original Bisquick mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • 9-inch glass pie pan
  • Nonstick Skillet
  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat and Prep: Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly coat a 9-inch glass pie pan with cooking spray to ensure the pie releases easily after baking.
    Cooking spray
  2. Brown the Meat: In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion. Stir occasionally, breaking the meat into small crumbles, until the beef is fully browned and the onions are translucent (about 8 to 10 minutes).
1 pound lean (at least 80%) ground beef, 1 large onion
  3. Prepare the Batter: While the beef is cooking, whisk together the milk, Bisquick mix, and eggs in a small mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth.
1 cup milk, 1/2 cup Original Bisquick mix, 2 large eggs
  4. Assemble the Pie: Drain any excess fat from the beef and onion mixture. Transfer the cooked beef to the prepared pie pan. Stir in the salt and sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Pour the Bisquick batter mixture over the beef and cheese.
1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  5. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25 minutes. The One-Pan Cheeseburger Pie is done when a knife inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.

Notes

Make sure to drain the ground beef thoroughly after browning to prevent a soggy bottom. For extra flavor, whisk a pinch of garlic powder or black pepper into the Bisquick batter.
