Lava Flow Drink Recipe

A tropical, creamy, and visually stunning cocktail that combines the flavors of a Piña Colada with a strawberry daiquiri swirl.

Ingredients
  

Strawberry Base
  • 1 oz Light Rum
  • 1 oz Coconut Rum
  • 2 oz Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
Piña Colada Base
  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 2 oz Cream of Coconut
  • 1 cup Ice
  • 1/2 Banana
Garnish
  • Pineapple Wedges
  • Maraschino Cherries

Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a blender, combine the light rum, coconut rum, and strawberries until smooth.
  2. Pour the strawberry mixture into the bottom of two tall hurricane glasses.
  3. Rinse the blender jar thoroughly to prepare for the next layer.
  4. In the clean blender, combine the pineapple juice, cream of coconut, banana, and ice.
  5. Blend on high speed until the mixture is thick, frosty, and creamy.
  6. Slowly pour the white coconut mixture into the center of the glasses; the strawberry base will rise up the sides like lava.
  7. Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge and a cherry before serving immediately.

Notes

For a mocktail version, simply omit the rums and replace with 2 ounces of pineapple juice.
