Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 bags Black tea bags or loose leaf tea
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick
  • 4 pods Green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 3 pieces Whole cloves
  • 1 piece Star anise
  • 0.5 inch Fresh ginger, sliced
  • 0.25 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup or honey
  • 1 cup Whole milk or oat milk
  • for garnish Whipped cream and ground cinnamon

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, cinnamon stick, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, star anise, ginger, and nutmeg.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes to allow the spices to infuse the water.
  3. Add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea to the spiced water and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes depending on your preferred strength.
  4. Remove the tea bags and stir in the maple syrup and milk of your choice.
  5. Heat the mixture through until steaming, but be careful not to let it reach a rolling boil to avoid scorching the milk.
  6. Strain the latte through a fine-mesh sieve into two mugs to remove the whole spices and ginger slices.
  7. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon before serving warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a 1:1 ratio of water to milk. You can also add a drop of vanilla extract for extra holiday warmth.
