  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices favorite cheese (American or Provolone) or 1/4 cup extra shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Equipment

  • Dash mini waffle maker
  • Skillet

Method

  1. Plug in your Dash mini waffle maker and allow it to heat up fully.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk the egg and then stir in the garlic powder and 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
1 large egg, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  3. Once the waffle maker is ready, pour half of the chaffle mixture onto the center of the iron. Close the lid and cook for approximately 4 minutes. Remove carefully.
  4. Add the remaining half of the mixture to the waffle maker and cook for another 4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. Place a pan on the stove over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt until it starts to sizzle.
    1 tablespoon butter
  6. Place one chaffle into the melted butter in the pan. Top it with your two slices of cheese (or extra shredded cheese), then place the second chaffle on top.
2 slices favorite cheese (American or Provolone)
  7. Heat the sandwich for 1 minute on the first side. Flip it carefully and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes on the other side until the cheese is completely melted and the exterior is golden brown.
  8. Once the cheese is ooey and gooey, remove from the pan and enjoy immediately.

Notes

The biggest secret is to let the chaffles sit for a few minutes before frying so they firm up and become crispier. You can also add a tablespoon of almond flour to the batter for a more bread-like consistency.
