Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Ghirardelli brand recommended
  • 1 oz freeze-dried strawberries ground into a fine powder
  • 4 cups rice or corn Chex mix cereal such as Chex or Crispix
  • 1/3 cup icing sugar also known as powdered sugar

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare Strawberry Powder: Place freeze-dried strawberries in a food processor and pulse until they become a fine powder. Alternatively, use pre-packaged dried strawberry powder. Ensure the powder is evenly processed.
  2. Mix Strawberry Powder with Sugar: In a bowl, combine the strawberry powder with icing sugar. Mix until the blend is uniform in color. Pour the mixture into a 1-gallon freezer bag and seal it securely. Set aside.
  3. Melt and Coat Cereal with White Chocolate: Melt white chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval to prevent overheating. Once fully melted, gently fold the melted chocolate into the cereal in a large bowl, taking care to coat each piece without crushing the cereal.
  4. Toss Cereal with Strawberry-Sugar Mix: Transfer the chocolate-coated cereal into the prepared freezer bag with the strawberry-sugar powder. Seal the bag and gently toss to ensure each cereal piece is evenly coated with the strawberry-sugar mixture. Handle with care to avoid crushing the cereal.
  5. Set and Store the Cereal Mix: Lay the coated cereal mix out on a baking sheet, spreading it evenly. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. Once set, store the mix in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.

Notes

This puppy chow stays best in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Avoid refrigerating, as moisture can make the coating sticky. Gently shake the container every couple of days to prevent settling.
