  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • red food coloring Optional
  • fresh berries for topping
  • maple syrup for serving

Method
 

  1. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

  2. Incorporate the milk, melted butter, and egg in a separate bowl and whisk till combined well and pour into the dry ingredients.

  3. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Add a few drops of red food coloring. (Optional, but festive!)

  5. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake. Use a spoon to shape into heart shape.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with fresh berries and maple syrup.
