Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

Incorporate the milk, melted butter, and egg in a separate bowl and whisk till combined well and pour into the dry ingredients.

Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Add a few drops of red food coloring. (Optional, but festive!)

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake. Use a spoon to shape into heart shape.
Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with fresh berries and maple syrup.
