Easy Philly Cheese Steak

Ingredients
  

Steak
  • 1 pound thinly sliced steak such as sirloin or ribeye
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Veggies
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
Cheese
  • 4 slices provolone cheese or cheese whiz, if you're feeling traditional!
Bread
  • 4 hoagie rolls or your favorite long rolls

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Griddle
  • Spatula
  • Bowl

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Ensure the steak is well coated.
    1 pound thinly sliced steak, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  2. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove veggies from pan and set aside.

  3. Add the seasoned steak to the same hot skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.

  4. Add the cooked onions and peppers back to the skillet with the steak. Toss to combine. Form the steak and veggie mixture into 4 equal piles. Place a slice of provolone cheese over each pile and let it melt.

  5. Slice open each hoagie roll. Carefully scoop a cheesesteak pile onto each roll.
