Ingredients
  

For the Dough:
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed (14.1 oz)
For the Cream Cheese Filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
For the Egg Wash:
  • 1 large egg beaten
Optional Toppings:
  • Fruit jam (apricot, raspberry, or strawberry)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Equipment

  • Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire Rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and egg yolk until well combined.

  3. Gently unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into 6 equal rectangles.

  4. Spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling onto the center of each rectangle.
  5. Brush the edges of each rectangle with the egg wash. Fold opposite corners over the filling, pinching to seal the edges. If you don't like this shape, you can always cut the dough the way you like.

  6. Add a teaspoon of fruit jam on top. Sprinkle the top with extra sugar

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
