Chili Cheese Tater Tot Casserole

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 15 ounce chili with beans (15 ounce) can
Vegetables
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
Other Ingredients
  • 10.75 ounce condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.75 ounce) can
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 32 ounce frozen tater tots (32 ounce) bag
Optional Toppings
  • sour cream
  • chopped green onions
  • hot sauce

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.

  3. Stir in the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

  4. Add the can of chili with beans and the condensed cream of mushroom soup to the skillet. Mix well to combine.

  5. Spread the chili mixture evenly in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Top with the shredded cheddar cheese.

  7. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.

  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
  10. Top with sour cream, chopped green onions, and hot sauce, if desired.
