  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix 1 ounce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Coating:
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans optional
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh parsley optional

Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Parchment Paper
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  2. Stir in the dry ranch dressing mix and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. On a sheet of parchment paper, combine the chopped pecans and parsley (if using).
  5. Remove the cheese mixture from the refrigerator and shape it into a ball.
  6. Roll the cheeseball in the pecan-parsley mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Wrap the cheeseball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow it to firm up.
  8. Serve cold with crackers, pretzels, or vegetables.

Notes

For best results, ensure cream cheese is truly softened to prevent lumps. Refrigeration is crucial for flavor melding and firmness - 30 minutes minimum, but 1+ hours is ideal. Experiment with different cheeses and add-ins like red bell pepper or green onions. Serve with crackers, vegetables, or apple slices for sweet-savory combination.
