Ingredients
  

For the Cookies:
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (gel or liquid) as desired
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!

  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add food coloring, if desired.
