Ingredients

Meatballs:
  • 26-28 ounce frozen meatballs (Italian or homestyle), or fresh meatballs bag
BBQ Sauce:
  • 18 ounce your favorite BBQ sauce bottle
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional

Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Pour BBQ sauce into the crockpot.
  2. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika (if using) and garlic powder (if using) to the crockpot with the BBQ sauce. Whisk to combine well.
  3. Add frozen meatballs directly into the crockpot.
  4. Stir gently to coat all the meatballs in the sauce.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours, or until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  6. Serve the BBQ Meatballs Crockpot hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or green onions, if desired.

Notes

Don't overcrowd the crockpot. If doubling the recipe, use a larger crockpot. For a richer flavor, brown the meatballs before adding them to the crockpot. Adjust the sweetness and tanginess of the BBQ sauce to your liking. For a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce. Check on your meatballs periodically, especially during the last hour of cooking. Use a crockpot liner for easier cleanup.
