Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the feta block in an oven-safe dish.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with red pepper flakes (if using), and season with black pepper.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the feta is softened and slightly golden.
  5. Remove from oven and spread fig jam evenly over the baked feta.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped pecans and fresh thyme leaves (if using).
  7. Serve immediately with crusty bread, crackers, or sliced fruit.

Notes

Use high-quality feta cheese, preferably a block of Greek feta packed in brine. Draining the feta thoroughly is crucial to avoid a watery dip. Don't overbake the feta; you want it softened and slightly golden, not melted and runny. If you don't have fig jam on hand, apricot jam or honey are great alternatives. Toasting the pecans lightly before adding them to the dip enhances their nutty flavor. Serve the dip immediately while it's warm and gooey. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your liking for a spicier kick.
